"I booked through the internet for accomodations that were reasonable and clean. We were on our way to Winnipeg for a wedding.Needless to say, we were tired after a long drive. The hotel room was substandard. There was dried blood stains on the side of the matress and boxspring. The grouting in the tub area was blackened. I felt the room had an overall dirtiness to it. If we weren't so tired we would have left. As it was, we didn't sleep well anyway in our surroundings. I was truly disappointed as I thought a Howard Johnson Hotel was somewhere on par with other standard hotels. I am sorry to say that I won't reccomend this hotel chain to anyone."

"The staff was friendly but the rooms were less than acceptable. My room, was the most putrid smelling room that I have ever set foot in in my life. It was beyond unacceptable. It reeked of the worst case of body odour I have ever been witness to and my attempts to fumigate the room ($20 worth of cleaning supplies) were futile. Obviously the smell was ingrained into the mattress which needs to be thrown out. This room, while admittedly an isolated case, has soured me on Howard Johnson properties for good."

"In five nights, our room was made improperly twice, once it was not made at all. Never did we get coffee for the coffee maker. The TV remote control died, the toilet got clogged, as did the bathtub. After a shower I was standing in 6 inches of water(but in all fairness, this got fixed immediately). All in all, not a pleasant, which was surprising since I was under the impression that Howard Johnsons was a decent hotel chain."

"Our room did not include your so called complimentary items, The bedding was full of stains. The faucets leaked the toilet ran (a very poor control of natural resources). When using the pool and slides one slide was broken and my son found fecal material on the stairwell of the pool house. All our concens were reported however, when we leftthese issues were still outstanding."
